A job candidate recently described her employment background, and her accomplishments were impressive given she had less than 10 years of experience. No doubt her enthusiasm to better herself with more education and marketable skills made her a good candidate; however she seemed to be struggling with getting attention from employers.

As the conversation progressed she became more candid in talking about her experiences with different industries and what type of position she wanted to pursue. Toward the end of the discussion, she dropped a surprising comment about her ability to speak Spanish fluently as though it was no big deal.

She almost left out one of the most significant skills she possessed – a second language. The ability to speak multi-languages is a major attraction to employers and it could have been a huge mistake if she minimized her language skills in front of a potential employer.
