Here are some more insights about working with recruiters that I gathered during my recent meeting with Tony Beshara, author of “The Job Search Solution” and “Acing the Interview.”

“Recruiters can help you manage the process of interviewing and negotiating,” Tony said.

Recruiters have access to confidential knowledge before it is made public, so they have more information than the average person.

A really good recruiter will help guide you through the job-search process and help strategize ways you can overcome areas of weakness.

Recruiters know their market and know how you compare with your competition, which can give you an advantage.

They know the hiring company well and often play a role in consulting with the hiring decision makers.

Many times a recruiter will have a deeper understanding of the company culture and politics, which they pass on to you because you are their candidate.

Recruiters deal with the hiring process daily and know what steps to take. No matter how experienced you are, you probably won’t have access to this information due to the nature of the recruiting contract.

Most importantly, a recruiter usually knows what to do when things go wrong in the hiring process. You want them on your side when there’s a miscommunication.

How has working with a recruiter helped you?
